You have reached the professional website for Dr. Michael Weeks. I am so glad you stopped by. I am an environmental historian who specializes in Modern U.S. History and the American West.

This site is inspired by a fascination for how humans have interacted with the ever-changing landscapes of the West. I have spent my career teaching in universities and public schools, as well as soaking up the past in graduate school. “Weeks in the West” is an attempt to translate my experience and knowledge into digital form.  As such, it is a work in progress.

Inside you will find samples of my published work as well as descriptions of works in progress.  I have written on tourism, public lands, water, feedlots, pollution, and industrial agriculture. There are also syllabi for my university courses, teaching philosophies, and a curriculum vitae.  Additionally, I will include resources, suggestions for reading and research, and blogs that blur the lines between the professional and the personal.  Each of the visuals on this site are either taken from my wanderings in the West, or from my research.

Feel free to explore. I hope you enjoy, and feel free to contact me if you’d like to chat more.
